Getting Here
Air
New Orleans is served by Louis Armstrong International Airport which is located in the suburb of Kenner. Hurricane Katrina had a severe impact on the airport in 2005 but by 2006 the aiport had regained almost 75% of its pre-hurricane flights. Over the years, additional flights have been added and there are now several flights to and from European cities making New Orleans even more accessible for tourists across the Atlantic.
Getting into the City Centre from the Airport is relatively easy. Many of the major hotels have shuttle bus services and even if you are not staying at these hotels it is often best value to hop on and pay for the ride if your hotel is close to the final destination.
There is a public bus from the airport to Loyola Avenue in the New Orleans Central Business District. Just be careful to remember that the stop is a good walk from the luggage reclaim so you'll probably have to ask at an information desk to find it.
Rail
New Orleans' train station can be found at 1001 Loyola Avenue, by the edge of the Central Business District. The station is within walking distance of the Super Dome.
Amtrak have three services that pass through New Orleans. They are City of New Orleans, Crescent and the Sunset Limited. Find more information on Amtrak's website.
Bus
The bus station in New Orleans' is situated right next to the train station, making it quite easy if you need to get a connecting train or bus. As per most American cities New Orleans is served by the Greayhound Bus Company. You can find more information on timetables, routes and fares on their website.
Car
The main artery going in and out of New Orleans is Interstate 10, going to the west and east.
